I didn't realise that Santa was Frank Sidebottom until last night! I went again in April 2023 to see Frank in the Spring. He has removed his Santa suit now - maybe in the summer he will have a string vest and knotted hankie on his head.

If you remember Frank Sidebottom from your younger days and he made you laugh and you find yourself on the roads just south of Manchester, be sure to take a trip to Timperley. Enjoy the sunset if you fancy, but definitely stop for some pictures with Frank. There is a (currently free) car park a hundred yards away and limited parking right alongside for the small Sainsbury's Local shop. You can admire Frank with a drink or snack from Costa or head to the Co-op across the road, although it feels like it takes an age for the lights at the pedestrian crossing to change! A kindly local offered to take our photo, suggesting that Frank Sidebottom has not been forgotten in this area and is still well loved. The tale of Chris Sievey is not always a happy one but it is worth finding out more about the man behind the papier-mâché head. This statue certainly does him justice.

The statue is perfect and a lovely tribute to Chris Sievey. We made the trip just to see the statue and it was worth it. Perfect for a photo opportunity.

Frank Sidebottom ...a mancunian legend his creator Chris Sievey was a talented but largely misunderstood musician who found success with Frank ..the statue stands next to the local costa coffee and not far away from the famous Timperley post office ..famous for its two post boxes one for your left hand one for your right hand ..a joke that makes me howl with laughter Anyway fir any fan its worth a visit ! Its a thumbs up from me .. and a thumbs up from Frank.

What's not to love about a statue of Frank! The man was a legend and deserves more recognition for his genius, and I don't use that word lightly!
